To become a competent Costs Lawyer it is essential to have an understanding of the role of client service in legal practice. The module also develops in the student an awareness of the ethical, professional and regulatory culture in which the legal profession and their staff practice.
Upon completion of this Module a Trainee should be able to:
- Explain the relevant issues and rules governing the relationship between a lawyer and a client
- Explain the requirements imposed on a Costs Lawyer by the Code of Conduct and other regulatory documents.
- Draft client care communications compliant with professional requirements
- Apply that knowledge to problem based scenarios to demonstrate an ability to act in accordance with the core duties of professional conduct & ethics.
